Verification Code Instructions

Emphasizing the importance of verification codes (3DS & OTPs). Learn how to protect yourself against social engineering scams and never disclose codes to any third party.

I. 3DS Online Transaction Security

3DS (Three-Domain Secure) is a standard security protocol implemented by major card networks to protect online transactions. When shopping online with your WasabiCard, 3DS verification may be triggered to ensure authorized use.

  • Instructions: Please remain on the merchant's checkout page and do not close the window. Wait for the secure verification pop-up to appear, then enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your mobile phone to complete the payment.

  • Security Notice: WasabiCard support will NEVER ask for your verification code under any circumstances. Treat this code like your PIN, never share it with anyone.

II. SMS Delays

Verification codes are typically delivered within seconds. If you experience a delay, it is usually caused by temporary local carrier fluctuations, international roaming lag, or network congestion.

  • Tip: Please wait for the countdown timer to run out. In the meantime, you can try toggling "Airplane Mode" on and off to refresh your cellular connection before requesting a new code.

III. Not Receiving the OTP

If you are completely unable to receive any verification codes, please check the following:

  • Profile Details: Verify that the phone number (including the country code) linked to your cardholder info is accurate.

  • Spam/Block Filters: Check your phone's spam folder or third-party blocking apps to ensure the message wasn't mistakenly filtered.

  • Storage Capacity: Ensure your mobile device has enough storage space to receive new text messages.

  • If the issue persists after these checks, please contact our customer support for assistance.

IV. "Verification Failed" Errors

This error message is generally triggered by one of the following scenarios:

  • Incorrect or Expired Code: The digits were entered incorrectly, or the code expired (codes are strictly valid for 5 minutes).

  • Feature Lockout: Entering the wrong code multiple times consecutively will trigger a temporary lock on the feature to safeguard your account.

  • Solution: Double-check the numbers and click "Resend". If your verification capability has been locked, please wait 24 hours for an automatic reset or contact customer support for manual verification.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is 3DS verification, and how do I complete it?

A: 3DS is a security feature designed to safeguard your WasabiCard against online fraud. When purchasing from a participating online retailer, a secure verification window will automatically appear at checkout. Simply enter the One-Time Password (OTP) texted to your registered mobile number to authorize the transaction.

Q: Why is my SMS verification code delayed?

A: Delays are usually due to carrier network fluctuations, international roaming routing lag, or peak-time traffic. We recommend waiting 1–2 minutes or moving to an area with better reception. Avoid clicking the "Resend" button rapidly within a short period.

Q: What should I do if I am not receiving the OTP code at all?

A: Please go through this quick checklist:

  1. Ensure your current phone number matches the exact number and country code registered on your WasabiCard account.

  2. Check your phone's "Spam & Blocked" folder to see if the system filter caught the message.

  3. Verify that your cellular service is active and has stable network coverage. If everything seems correct but you still aren't receiving it, please get in touch with our support team.

Q: Why does the system keep saying "Verification Failed"?

A: This typically happens if the digits were misentered or if the code has timed out (it expires after 10 minutes). For security reasons, repeatedly entering an incorrect code will temporarily lock the verification feature. Please wait a while before retrying or reach out to customer support to unlock it.
